I hate surprise birthdays.

Either that or Jeanne's really bad at arranging them.

1st time (my 20th) - Headed back to my apartment at 12:15am (the 21st) and saw Jeanne speaking with security.

Security - I've received complaints from this apartment; you guys are too loud.

Jeanne - We weren't even loud, plus our doors were closed, etc. etc.

She looks at me with disappointment in her eyes..."happy birthday, Rachel..."

Security - I'm sorry it's your (to me) birthday and all but you guys are going to have to end it soon.

I came in to an apartment filled with so many friends/loved ones. It was pretty funny. We whispered the birthday song, sat around, did nothing, and sat some more. Then they quietly left. Thanks for coming.

2nd time (my 21st) - I got food poisoning while I was sleeping (the 21st). I woke up at 6amish and asked Jeanne to take me to the hospital because I felt like poo. A couple days after I kind of got better, my apartment and I went to TGI where people were waiting!!!!! I enter and realize that more than half of them were people I didn't know/Jeanne's friends. Uhhhh. Thanks for coming?? whoever?? you?? are?? (I knew most of them. maybe 3 were close friends).

3rd time (my 22nd) - I leave Brian's place (internet) with Janet around 11:50pm (the 20th) back to our apartment. Right when I turn the corner, I see Myung, Stacy, and Tim, walking towards my apartment. It would have been okay if they were one of the last people to be there, but they were the first. The FIRST! So I expected people to come.

Jeanne - OMG THREE IN A ROW!!!

Well, I didn't know who was coming; so, I guess that was the surprise. A pleasant surprise.

I guess surprise birthdays aren't that bad. I just hate them. Thanks for trying Jeanne.

A worker at the UCSD bookstore just asked me if I needed any help. I should leave...
